Calibration – Your Daily Precise Measurement Results Will Prove It!
Practical experience is often more valuable than theoretical knowledge alone – hence the saying "trial and error".
However, when it comes to your measuring instruments, you should leave nothing to chance or "trial and error". Only with calibrated measuring instruments can you be sure that your measurement results are as accurate as your application requires.
Why Calibrate?
Calibration is important because it ensures the accuracy of measuring instruments and guarantees that they deliver reliable results. This is relevant, for example, for quality assurance in many areas, from industrial production to research and development. Regular calibration allows you to detect deviations early on and correct them. This ensures accurate measurements, saves costs, and ensures compliance with legal regulations.
When And How Often Should Calibration Be Performed?
- When purchasing a new device: High-quality measuring devices are often sold already calibrated, i.e., a calibration certificate is included in the scope of delivery. However, this is optional for many devices. Therefore, calibration may be necessary when purchasing a new device.
- During use: Practical use requires regular calibration, as the accuracy of measuring devices can change over time due to various factors, including temperature and other environmental influences or aging.
- At fixed intervals: Calibration intervals of one, three, or five years are common, depending on the device and requirements. Many companies prescribe such regular calibration of their measuring equipment internally.
With calibrated measuring instruments, you can be sure that your measurement results are as accurate as possible.
What Do I Get?
As proof of the accuracy of their measuring instrument, users receive a calibration certificate from the calibration laboratory, i.e., a document summarizing the results of the calibration (measured values, measurement uncertainties, etc.).
Who Should Perform Calibration?
For calibration, the relevant measuring device is usually returned to the dealer or manufacturer. They either calibrate the device themselves or pass it on to service providers (“calibration laboratories”). This is usually the easiest option for the user, as dealers or manufacturers know their devices well and can select the most suitable calibration laboratories and methods. Calibration requires high-quality, expensive measuring devices that must be significantly more accurate than the devices being calibrated. Therefore, "do-it-yourself" calibration is usually not cost-effective.
...It's Best To Have Your Devices Calibrated Directly by Meilhaus Electronic!
For you as a user, calibration means that your devices are out of service for the duration of the calibration process: The device must be sent to the dealer, from there to the manufacturer, and then often on to a service provider. To minimize these times, it makes sense for the dealer to become the service provider for calibration: The measuring instruments only need to be returned or brought back to the dealer (in many cases located nearby) and can be calibrated directly by them.
Advantages for you as a user when you have your measuring devices calibrated by Meilhaus Electronic:
- Convenient, unbureaucratic, and fast calibration service with short shipping distances. Short downtimes.
- As a dealer, we know the devices we sell inside out and can calibrate them just as well as the manufacturer.
- Measuring devices are often in use for many years and decades: protect your investment by choosing a dealer who can offer long-term calibration.
