SEFRAM DAS220 and DAS240 Handheld Universal Data Recorder
The SEFRAM DAS220 and DAS240 are ideal for measuring and recording common parameters such as voltage, current, temperature, pressure, and more with sampling rates up to 1,000 samples per second. It includes 10 (DAS220) or 20 (DAS240) universal analog inputs with convenient screw terminals. The DAS240 has an expandable design to support up to 200 channels. The data recorders also provide digital inputs and alarm outputs for process monitoring applications. Measurements can be viewed graphically and numerically on the 10"/25.4 cm color touchscreen. Icon driven menus make it easy to navigate through the user interface, and a channel setup screen displays the settings for all channels including measurement type, filter settings, and scaling.

Question: What is the difference between a data recorder and a data logger?
Answer: The two categories of devices are very similar, as both are used to record data. The difference is gradual and mainly lies in their intended use, the way the data is recorded, and the duration of the recording.
Data loggers typically record data slowly over long periods of time. Typical examples are slowly changing measured variables such as room temperature or humidity, with measurement periods spanning days, weeks, or months. Data loggers are usually small to save space, battery-powered, and operate autonomously. They store data internally for later analysis on a PC.
Data recorders, on the other hand, tend to record data quickly and in an event-oriented manner. They have higher sampling rates to capture faster processes, events, signals, and states. The measurement often focuses on short time periods, for example directly before, during, and after a specific event (seconds to minutes around the event). Therefore, data is often not recorded continuously but only when certain trigger conditions are met.
