Frequently Asked Questions:
Question: Why does the DG6000 offer three operating modes?
Answer: With its three output modes, the Rigol DG6000 can cover a wide range of application scenarios:
| Mode | HBW | AMP | SND |
| Description | High bandwidth | Amplification/high amplitude | Multi-channel, single-ended standard outputs, fast edge |
| Frequency | DC...1 GHz | DC...500 MHz | DC...500 MHz |
| Channel number | Depending on the model: 2 or 4 differential; full channel-to-channel isolation | Depending on the model: 2 or 4 differential; full channel-to-channel isolation | Depending on the model: 4 or 8 single-ended; group-wise isolation (channel 1 2/channel 3 4) |
| Connectors | SMB | BNC | BNC |
| Amplitude | 0.4...2 VPeak-Peak (100 Ω) | 2 mVPeak-Peak...20 VPeak-Peak | 1 mVSpitze-Spitze...10 VSpitze-Spitze (50 Ω) |
Question: What is the advantage of the AMP operating mode?
Answer: To achieve higher amplitudes with conventional signal generators, a balun and an amplifier must typically be connected downstream of the generator. This is costly and increases noise and distortion. The DG6000 delivers amplitudes of up to 20 Vpp directly, without requiring additional equipment.
Question: What other advantages does the DG6000 offer?
Answer: With a rise time of 350 ps, the device is currently one of the fastest on the market.
It offers extensive channel coupling capabilities (coupling, tracking, etc.).
The DG6000 provides six built-in functions:
- Sequence output: Multi-segment signal sequencing with loops, jumps, and triggers.
- IQ modulation: Integrated baseband IQ modulator for QAM, OFDM, and more; no external modulator required.
- PRBS/pattern generation.
- Dual-tone/multi-tone.
- 240 built-in waveforms: Common signal shapes for general applications up to bioelectronics and medical use; formula editor, manual drawing, CSV import.
- Full modulation: AM, FM, PM, PWM, ASK, FSK, PSK.
